13 Quick and Simple Tips to Make Your Video Marketing More Successful

13 Quick and Simple Tips to Make Your Video Marketing More Successful

Nervous about getting into this video marketing lark?
This is from us, for you.

It is true, the statistics backing the use of video in marketing are impressive:

  • 45% of people view an hour or more of video content on Facebook or YouTube each week.
  • 73% of B2B marketers say video positively impacts marketing ROI.
  • 4  times as many customers would rather watch a video about a product than reading about it.
  • A Facebook video receives, on average, 135% more organic exposure than a regular post.(Source:

If you’ve tried to take advantage of these statistics you might have found, as we have to admit we did (don’t ask about the amount of takes for one video!) that it’s not as easy as some people make it look (hats off to you if your one of those people!).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1542301045402{background-color: #f3f3f3 !important;}”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]If like us, you’re keen to find out more about how to create effective (& presentable!) videos to use on your social media accounts you might find these guidelines useful.

  1. Find a suitable area with favourable lighting that doesn’t create too many shadows.
  2. Try and get some branding in the background even if it’s just something in your company colour theme.
  3. Use a tripod or at least a selfie stick.
  4. Angle the camera. Have a play & a practice to find what works best.
  5. Avoid using the zoom function on your camera. It affects the quality.
  6. Give some time to prepare what you want to say and practise on your own without the camera running until you are feeling more confident.
  7. Make eye contact with the lens, not the screen.
  8. Sit up straight! Sounds simple, but not many of us do it.
  9. Keep it short. (less than 2 minutes has the highest engagement rate according to Wistia)
  10. Remember you’re on show from the minute you press the record button to after you press ‘stop. You need to avoid those unfortunate, unflattering screen freezes at the beginning and end (Yes, I am talking from personal experience!)
  11. Be conversational. Try and think you are talking to a friend.
  12. Resist the temptation to ‘sell’. A video is about connecting with your audience.
  13. If you have an iPhone use iMovie to edit your video and add subtitles (85% of videos are watched without sound).

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I know, I know. So much easier to say than to do!! But it’s a new skill. A new feather to our bow and most of us won’t be naturals but it is something we can learn and get better at.  Before you know it, you’ll be releasing video’s here, there and everywhere!

Wishing you video marketing success (& minimal blooper moments!).
