Web hosting is a service that allows organisations and individuals to make a website available on the internet. So if you have a website, or are getting a website, you will need web hosting.
Is all web hosting the same? Unfortunately, no.
Imagine now you’re a prospective client searching for a service on Google. You see a link that you think looks good so you click and see… nothing. You go back, refresh and click again… still nothing. What do you do now? It’s likely you’ll just head back to google and pick another website. Seem familiar?
The reason for this might be that the website’s hosting wasn’t reliable, had technical issues or had been suspended for some reason. Either way, it’s not going to help you do business when your website isn’t loading due to some server error. You’ll be losing enquiries and potential sales, and for any business, this is terrible news.
There is also the security aspect. You need to know that whoever is hosting your website is taking all steps necessary to protect your site and data and minimise the risk of cybercrime activity.
Good web hosting is crucial.
Web hosting will never be 100% perfect. The internet is susceptible to occasional difficulties. However, with the right company and the proper support, these errors will be rare and dealt with quickly and efficiently.
*After the first year, our shared web hosting is £150 a year plus vat.
We also have a dedicated VPS server to handle larger, more complex websites.
You do not need to have your website designed by us. We provide web hosting as a standalone service. If you are not happy with your current hosting then get in touch to use our web hosting.
In May 2018, new GDPR Regulations will come into force affecting all businesses that collect, store and use personal data through their website. As such any business that uses data in their marketing and uses a web presence to collect and store it will be required to have an SSL.
Google also favours websites that have an SSL Certificate. They will also let your visitors know if you do not have an SSL when they use your contact form. This may cause concern for the browser, and some may change their mind about contacting you.
Moving forward the SSL will be an essential bit of kit for any website which is why we include it as part of our hosting for all our new website builds.
If we haven’t built your website, we can still organise your SSL certificate. We charge £79.99 +vat for this service.
SSL certificates are valid for 12 months and need to renew annually. If you have a website or SSL certificate with us, we will notify you annually so that you never lose your cover.
