The question, ‘How long does a website take to build?‘ really does depend. Every project is different!
The timeline for building your website can vary depending on the size of the site, the complexity of your goals, and how quickly we get the information we need from you. The process moves along much quicker when we receive a detailed response to our website questionnaire. This helps us clearly understand your vision right from the start.
Once we’ve got your completed questionnaire, we get to work on research and planning. From there, we’ll create a layout and write the copy for your home page, followed by a visual design to show how it will all look. You’ll have a chance to give feedback, sometimes we go through a few versions to get everything just right so this can affect the length of time too.
Once the home page is approved, we design and build the rest of the pages. The length of this phase really depends on how many pages you need and how detailed they are. A simple two-page website can be turned around quickly, while a larger, more complex site may take up to a month or more.
We have completed pretty big, complex websites in 2 weeks, (that does take some though!!) and sometimes it takes 6 months, or more (that’s not our fault, we promise!)
Our best advice on answering the question, “How long does a website take to build?” is to have a chat about your website goals. We’ll give you a clear idea of the process and timeline that works for your needs.
If there is a specific time requirement for you, we will let you know if it’s realistic and doable, and if it is, we can make it happen.
