How to Make the Most of Your Google Business Listing

Make the most of your google business listing

Did you know that over half of Google Business Profile interactions produce website visits (and an active Google Profile can help you appear in those all important 1, 2 or 3 map spots)?

If you haven’t made full use of your Google Business Listing you could seriously be missing out.

So what should you be doing to make the most of your business listing?

Give as much information as you can

The more complete the Google business, the more powerful it will be. Some are straight-forward but others will require more thought but it is these that will give that important edge.

Be consistent and careful

Make sure you use the same wording and abbreviations so that it matches to every other piece of information that Google has for you. Resist the urge to add in keywords that don’t match your business name.

Pay attention to your own description

Google come up with their own description for the your business, but you get to give your view further down. Use all of the 750 characters. This is where you can add your keywords and your links.

Choose a specific category

Don’t be tempted to be too generic. If you are a gift shop, choose gift shop not just shop. And make sure you choose sub-categories that are related to your business but only choose what you can do.

Harness the power of reviews

Google knows that reviews are one of the highest ranking influence for consumer decision making. The more positive reviews you have, the more Google will like you!  Ask and most people will be happy to oblige.

Include Photographs

Imagery is always a good selling tool and your Google Business Listing is no different. Make sure they are of a good quality and regularly add them to keep your profile current.

Use it like Social Media

With your Google Business Listing you can also add posts just like you can on Instagram and Facebook. Utilise the question and answer section and, like with the photos, keep it updated and set up your messenger.

Complete listings are said to be 7 times more likely to get clicks and as you can see, it’s quite simple to update your Google Business Listing, and the optimum update frequency is every 3 to 5 days.
